The day has dawned on the start of the most exciting weekend of the year; Bumps. The sun is shining, the preclins have finished for the summer, and the bottles of Pimms are starting to be cracked open. Everyone loves summer rowing. This is the rowing we have been waiting for whilst we endured the bitter cold of the winter months. For some of us, this is the last official RUMSBC race of their university lives; for others, they're coming back to show all these kids how the doctors do it. All crews are looking for the Bump. We are the UH Champions of 2015 and we are determined to end the year in style.
Men's 1sts M1 are starting at 4 chasing Kings and being chased by ICSM 2nds. Let's hope that the men can hold off the 2nds crews and stay in the 1sts category. A strong start can make or break Bumps. Cox: Kit Hunter Stroke: Will McCaughran 7: Tom Morgan 6: Ali Williamson 5: Alex Cowan (C) 4: Sam Gunning 3: Aubrey Capern- Burgess 2: Neel Raja Bow: Adam Pickard Women's 1sts W1 are starting off at 3 and chasing Kings whilst being chased by ICSM. This women's crew means business. With four of the crew in their last Bumps of university this is a team that is in it to win it. Headship is in sight and this crew definitely wants to celebrate Bumps Party with medals. Cox: Hannah Hickingbotham Stroke: Eimear McKavanagh 7: Joy Schmidt (C) 6: Katie Westbrook 5: Claire Rowden 4: Matilda Williams 3: Tintin Larsson 2: Izzy Goldrick Bow: Meg Hollands Men's 2nds M2 are starting at 11 chasing Barts 2nds and being chased by Geroge's Novices. This crew have had a very successful year and this race will hopefully be no exception. With quite a low starting position this crew could be on their way to winning blades. Cox: Lucinda Conder Stroke: Abs Al-Kamil 7: Sam Jackson (C) 6: Fabian Uys 5: Luke Martin / Ben Dickinson 4: Charlie Hensher 3: Tom McLay 2: Tom Hughes Bow: Rory Shadwell Women's 2nds W2 are starting at 6 chasing Bart's 1sts and being chased by George's 2nds. The 2nds are up into the 1sts division and so have a tough battle ahead of them but this is a crew who don't go down without a fight and with their steely determination and a strong start; the firsts crews might need to watch out. Cox: Grace Navin Stroke: Georgie Lloyd 7: Laura Cousins (C) 6: Daisy Newberry 5: Gloria Smith 4: Jenny Budden 3: Kate Friedlaender 2: Libi Hawkes Bow: Livi Drewett Men's Novices MN are starting at 13 chasing George's Novices and being chased by ICSM4s. The Novice Men are our most successful crew of the year winning all but one of their UH races and they are planning on ending their novice year in style by winning their category and potentially blades at Bumps. Captain: Tom McLay Cox: Julia Negreskul Jack Maddicks Callum Field Ollie Pfeiffer Connor Price Martin Furlepa Matt Kinsella Jamie Glenister Jack Merrit Ben Schapira Women's Novices WN are starting out at 11 chasing George's and being chased by RVC. This is the last race where this bunch of girls will be rowing as a crew together and they want to go out with a bang and do their captain proud. The freshers are finished for summer and what a way to start it by winning at Bumps. Captain: Libi Hawkes Cox: Greg Gibson Elizabeth Sinclair Nadia Eden Kate Ryan Beth Jones Beth Gillies Rebecca Boys Ellen Macpherson Claire Shadwell Tahlia Spink Women's Alumni Once again RUMS has been able to field an alumni crew for Bumps and what a crew it is. Our alumni are starting at 13 on Saturday chasing Juniper and being chased by Phoenix 2s. This is a crew full of ex Presidents, determined oarswomen and they mean business. Cox: Kit Hunter Nadia Muspratt-Tucker Anna Rose Leah Rosenbaum Sophie Williams Beth Hughes Jess Whitehead Niamh Hanna Rachel Pocock So that's all our crews for Bumps 2015! In a few hours time they'll be taking to the water to show exactly what the UH Champions can do. This is the final race of the year. This is the race where you don't hold back. Bumps party will be all that much sweeter with medals but even without, what better way to celebrate the start of summer or the end of an era than with a party. MIDDLE MIDDLE MIDDLE!!!
